Enough to draw it, which is less than people fear. The core four: what the piece is (in your words; trade vocabulary optional), the governing dimensions or the space it must fit (a sketch with numbers, a plan, or even a photographed tape measure), the stone or colour direction if you have one, and the destination for delivery. Helpful extras that sharpen the first reply: reference images of anything close to your intent, the use it must survive (family kitchen versus display hall), and any deadline that governs. From that we return feasibility, material options and either a quotation or the short list of questions standing between you and one. A rough idea plus real dimensions beats a polished brief without them.

Yes, worktops are core factory territory, quoted and produced against your kitchen or bathroom drawings. The specification set is standard and we walk you through it: overall dimensions and any L- or U-returns with planned joint positions stated honestly (very long runs join; good drawings decide where), cut-outs templated to your actual sink, hob or basin, tap holes drilled to your fittings, edge profile and overhangs, splashbacks and upstands if wanted, and the substructure the top will sit on confirmed for the weight. Installation is your fitter’s scope with our drawing as the template, or, for some destinations, coordinated placement can be quoted. No policy minimum, a custom soap dish and a custom reception desk both get drawn, but there is an honesty minimum we volunteer up front: fixed costs (drawing time, crating, international freight) weigh proportionally heavier on tiny orders, so a single small custom object can cost more delivered than its size suggests, and we say so in the quotation rather than let it surprise you. The efficient patterns: attach small custom pieces to a larger order and they ride the freight nearly free; commission small objects as short series where units share setup; and for one meaningful piece, put the budget into material and form rather than fighting the fixed costs. Tell us your budget sense if you have one, it steers the proposal usefully and is never treated as a target to consume.

Your design remains yours, commissioning fabrication does not transfer your intellectual property to us, and drawings you supply are used to produce your piece, not to stock our catalogue. Where our studio develops the design from your brief, the working arrangement is stated on the quotation so ownership and reuse are explicit rather than assumed; if exclusivity matters to you (a signature piece for a hospitality brand, a designer’s product prototype), say so and it is written into the terms. We photograph production for quality records as standard; public use of images of your commissioned piece happens only with your agreement. NDAs for sensitive projects are accepted at enquiry, send yours with the first email if it applies.
